OK, I tried my best to make thisas understandable as possible. My English is not one of my best skills.
I started to programming this tool after I tried to backup my MP3´s to the XBOX. Almost half of it failed. Mostly because the naming size was far above 42 char. So I searched the Interet for some tools to rename the files. I only find one and it only cut the unsupportedcharacter. I tried to make this application a little bit more “intelligent”. For most of the files it's enough to cut all the chars behind the “feat” name. So I get still readable names.
Starting the Program
The easiest Way is the Explorer Context Menu. Just right click on the Directory you want to transfer.
Or just start the Program and browse by yourself ;-)
Main Window
I think theMain Buttons are self explaining.
Browse to search the Working Directory and Start to Start ;)
To virtually delete Folders, that don't have to transfer just left click (and hold the Control key) as much as you like and right click and choose delete.
Now just Start to transfer Folder and Files.
If there is a jpg in the Folder, automatic Thumbnail for XboxMediaPlayer (XBMP) is created.
Options
Search Updates on Start: Uhh just searches for Updates in the WWW on startup.
Don´t Touch Orginal Files: All Renaming is done virtually and just on the transferred Files.
Auto Transfer Files by FTP: It´s only enabled if the Don't touch Original Files is unchecked. If the renaming is done also on hdd you can choose to transfer the Files with your favourite FTP Client.
Auto Short Names: Shorten the Names after 42 chars. If unchecked you get asked how you want them to renamed.
Auto Replace Dots/Underline: Replaces the Dots and Underlines.
Auto Create Playlists: Creates Playlist for all Folders and transfer them to the Playlist folder from XBMP.
Search Covers in the Internet: It's not perfect, but it sometimes works.
FTP Options should be clear.
IMPORTANT is the Remote Path. It has to end with a Slash ("/")or BackSlash ("\") and it is case sensitive!
Exclude Words are those Words found in the Filename, that get cut. Should be something like feat and so on. But that’s up to you.
Again right click and add or delete (should be clear).
CHANGED: Now you get for Files and Folders Exclude Words.
Error Report
It just for Errors. Please enter your email Address if you send them.
Sync
The Sync Function searches for the Folders and list them. You can them Drag and Drop your files (if there is something to change) and hit Transfer. The Transfer checks for existing files and replace only changed Files.
The check is done by Name and Size.
Any File Transfer
Transfers any file to the XBOX, but creates only the XBOX Folder you're entering. So perhaps you have to sort afterwards.
